Mindfully ugly

Hateful, angry, bad-tempered, grumpy. Powerful moods, but often somewhat restrained. Secretly, so to speak. Because I make a fist in the sack and am quiet and careful, so to speak, mindful, not at all blusteringly loud. Are people on the spiritual path allowed to be angry? Do they have to cloak their anger nicely?

Of course, we can also be angry. Depending on the type (Buddha family: for the insiders), such a mood is part of life for some. As is so often the case, the question is how long the mood lasts and who makes the judgement - and whether I don't lose empathy.

When the almost permanently grumpy Milarepa received a visit in his cave, it allegedly took a few attempts to elicit a nice word from him. Milarepa certainly didn't feel grumpy, just disturbed in his contemplation.
